Recognising and Responding to Mental Health Issues in the Workplac

Improving the health and safety of your staff means taking reasonable steps to manage risks for both their physical and mental wellbeing. Mental distress is common, with approximately four in five New Zealand adults having experience of mental distress personally or among people they know. It is important to know how to respond to distress in others in an appropriate and empathetic way. This workshop can help managers, supervisors and staff gain the skills to effectively communicate with others to improve their wellbeing. Staff who are confident and capable first responders to mental health and addiction issues are essential to any organisation.

Managing Stress and Maintaining Long-Term Wellbeing

Stress has been shown to affect productivity, engagement, morale, physical health, anxiety and can contribute to antisocial behaviour. It is important to address workplace stress and support staff wellbeing, which in turn benefits productivity. This workshop aims to help staff recognise and manage stress, both in the workplace and personally. Learn strategies for improving emotional wellbeing, and understand the principles of maintaining long-term wellbeing.

Gain an understanding of the psychological processes (attitudes, emotions and reactions) that underpin change and learn transition coping strategies.

Understand circadian rhythms and techniques to improve sleep quality and habits.

Managing Compassion Fatigue

Discover how to effectively manage the cumulative effects of being concerned for others’ needs on an ongoing basis when working in a health setting. Learn coping strategies and strength-based self-management styles.
