This service provides specialist community and inpatient mental health services, including assessment, treatment and education, for individuals and their families. It also provides consultation and liaison for general practitioners, schools and key allied health and social service agencies as well as providing inpatient services to the South Island and a consultation service to North and South Canterbury.

CAFLink Single Point of Entry (SPOE), Heathcote Building, The Princess Margaret Hospital, 95 Cashmere Road, Christchurch P: 03 337 7758 or 0800 218 219 - option 1 | E: caflink@cdhb.health.nz CAFLink is the Child Adolescent and Family Mental Health Service ‘single point of entry function’ which streamlines access to mental health services in Canterbury for children, adolescents and their families.All outpatient referrals to the service are centrally received at CAFLink. This includes referrals to the CAF North and CAF South Community and Outreach Teams.

As well as providing an easily identifiable point of entry to services, CAFLink ensures better quality and more consistent information to referrers, young people and their families. Referrals are centrally processed and this includes screening, referral to community agencies and triage into the service.

CAFm Urgent Child and Youth Service  (CAF Emergency Team) Ground Floor Heathcote Building, The Princess Margaret Hospital P: 0800 218 219 - option 2 Manages in-hours emergency presentations for children and adolescents up to the age of 18 years, between the hours of 8.30am and 5.00pm. NB: CAFLink is the referral centre for non-emergency enquiries.

CAF Day Unit - Ngā Kākano Building 14, Hilmorton Hospital, Annex Road South, Christchurch 8024 P: 03 337 7773 The Child Adolescent and Family Day Unit offers comprehensive assessments and brief but intensive support and treatment to consumers aged up to 18 years. Consumers may be experiencing an acute deterioration in their mental health or require additional assessment and family support.

CAF Inpatient Unit - Ngā KākanoBuilding 14, Hilmorton Hospital, Annex Road South, Christchurch 8024 P: 03 337 7773 A specialist regional (South Island) treatment and assessment facility. Children and adolescents who have severe psychiatric, emotional behavioural or developmental disorders are assessed and/or treated. There is also provision for family members to live-in, to enable them to be part of their child’s treatment programme.

This outpatient service provides comprehensive psychiatric assessment and therapeutic intervention for children and adolescents 0-17 years (or older if still at school) in their family context.  It collaborates to provide specialist care pathways and group programmes with other CAF Services.Referrals are received from school counsellors, GP's and other health professionals, education and school staff and social service providers.
