Te Whare Roimata provides grass-root neighbourhood responses to the needs and concerns identified by local residents from the eastern inner city neighbourhoods and urban Māori with the view to creating a Treaty-based, more self-reliant community better able to meet its needs. A range of activities and projects have evolved located in and around the neighbourhood. These include:
- Cultural advice and support for Maori by an experienced Maori Community Worker
- Support and outreach to local people with a focus on older people
- A comprehensive arts programme involving exhibitions, festivals, concerts, workshops and art classes located at the Linwood Community Arts Centre
- Pre-employment opportunities for people who struggle to get employment
- An extensive community garden and allotment programme at 180 Smith Street
- A small household removal service, and section clearing service
- A weekly two course lunch held on Thursdays at 468 Worcester Street
- A boutique Op Shop at 468 Worcester Street
- Transitional projects located at the Linwood Village, Stanmore Road
- A book and postal service based at Stanmore Book and Post, 108B Stanmore Road.
