EATING DISORDERS SERVICE

A South Island regional specialist psychiatric service for Canterbury residents. This includes outpatient assessment and treatment of people with a primary diagnosis of anorexia nervosa, binge eating disorder, bulimia nervosa or eating disorder not otherwise specified. This is primarily provided through individual and group therapy.
For all South Island residents, it provides patients inpatient admission for weight restoration, medical stabilisation and/or acute assessment.
Regionally the service also provides extensive multi-disciplinary clinical consultation, liaison and training to Mental Health clinicians.
